SPF (spruce-pine-fir) timbers are utilized in a vast array of applications where the high strength-to-weight ratio, competitive cost, and universal availability in a wide range of dimensions make it a popular choice for both structural and non-structural applications. Spruce timbers are generally rough (not surfaced) and sized full-dimension for optimum strength.

Spruce timbers can be used in applications ranging from general construction, framing, packaging, shoring, and earthwork applications, to pressure-treating timbers for commercial projects.  Like dimensional lumber, timbers are graded under NLGA (National Lumber Grading Authority) Rules and the end uses are almost unlimited. Hanford can also surface (dress) timbers where a smooth finish is desired as well as custom pressure-treat if required.
